Environmental Drilling is
used to determine the existence of contamination in soil or
groundwater. Discrete undisturbed soil and groundwater samples
are recovered from the subsurface in order to evaluate, monitor
and remediate contamination impacting the environment. This
form of drilling requires the use of clean, non-contaminated
above and below ground equipment, in order to provide accurate
sample integrity and eliminate the possibility of cross contamination
between sampling locations.
The early 80s was an interesting time when a new and exciting
branch of drilling began to emerge and evolve. The discovery
and environmental impact of hydrocarbons, metals, pesticides
and other contaminants in soil and groundwater formed a new
specialized industry. Over the years stringent government
requirements have been implemented for site investigations,
monitoring, remediation, and eventual closures. But the fundamental
concepts are the same, to produce accurate undisturbed soil
and groundwater samples and to construct wells for monitoring
and remediation efficiently and with as little impact to the
site as possible.
S & D Drilling Inc. has a variety of
drills available to accommodate most drill site locations
or is able to modify equipment to suit the clients needs.
If the drilling is required indoors we have exhaust fans which
allow the exhaust gases from our drills to be evacuated from
within the building we are working in. Also, we have means
of containing the drill water and pumping it to either a storm
drain or dedicated vessel for later disposal. |
